The Situation
It's been weeks, maybe months, of deliberate silence — no texts, no checking her social media, genuinely trying to move forward. And now there's an urge to reach out, whether to check in, to say something that was left unsaid, or just to see if there's still something there. The no-contact stretch is real, but so is the pull to break it.
The honest question underneath "should I text her" is usually "what am I actually hoping happens if I do." If the answer is reopening the relationship, that's a different, more deliberate decision than a casual "hey, thinking of you" — and pretending it's casual when it isn't tends to backfire, either by getting read as exactly what it is, or by reopening something you hadn't actually finished processing.
Be honest with yourself about the actual goal before you touch the phone. A text sent to relieve your own discomfort is different from one sent because you've genuinely thought it through and want to reopen a real conversation. Know which one you're doing.
If you do reach out, make it specific and honest, not a vague 'hey stranger' that puts the emotional labor on her to figure out what you actually want. Say what you mean, or don't send it at all.
Tell the Council the real history here — it matters for the answer.
